Finally decided you’re ready to start your property buying journey?
When you make that choice, it is tempting to just jump into a search. Really, it’s important to have clarity on what you need and want, especially in a big city like London.
Working with international clients coming to the UK for over a decade has taught us the importance of taking time to understand the requirements of the family in order to have a comprehensive brief and a clear idea of the non-negotiables and the negotiables for the future property.
To do this, these are the things you should consider first before anything (in this order)!
Your Lifestyle
How do you use your home? What are the essential home features or local area amenities that are a part of your life?
The Home
Now that you know what your lifestyle is, you are in the better place to determine the non-negotiables and the negotiables. What must your house have? What could you live without?
The Area
One common deciding factor with our client is good schools for the children (Unless they are in boarding schools). If you’re a car owner and not ready to part with it, some areas are a big no no for vehicles & this is something you need to know ahead of time.
Doing this exercise will help you define your needs and inform your search.
For our client’s it helps them vocalise what they really need, what they can or are willing to negotiate on, and what are the Must-Haves.
This should do the same for you!
