It is that time of the year where the colder months are approaching and knowing how to prepare for winter 2022 has been a priority.
With their children settled into boarding school or university, most of our clients are returning home now that the holidays are over, setting our winter preparation checklist in motion.
Here is what our home team recommend you do to get winter ready…
1.Test your heating
It’s time to re-acquaint yourself with your heating before the weather gets really cold. Start to think about whether your radiators need bleeding, if your boiler is working, and dust off the vents/filters for maximum benefit.
- Service your boiler
No one wants uncertainty, especially when it comes to how to keep your house warm in winter. This will ultimately give you peace of mind, as things like leaking carbon monoxide is a risk at any time of the year.
- Clear your gutters & Trim up
As leaves start to fall, there’s a risk that wind will blow leaves into your gutters and drainpipes resulting in blockages. To ready your garden for winter, it helps to prune your trees early to avoid a build-up of leaves. If this builds up, the water could leak into the roof and sides of your house.
- Security Risk assessment

- Avoid flying garden furniture
